HOLYWOOD BAPTIST CRECHE
This facility is designed to cater for babies and young children from birth–approximately 3½ years.
THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT AREAS
1: MOTHER/BABY ROOM
This room with its carpet and soft furnishings is designed to accommodate babies from birth to approximately 1 ½ years. It includes a range of age-appropriate books and toys as well as activity -mats for young babies to lie on.
There is of course a nappy-changing facility available. There are comfortable chairs for mums to sit on, and feed or nurse babies at this early age. We also offer a soft baby support-seat and baby-walkers for those who are, literally, finding their feet! Babies spend their time at crèche being supported by staff reading to or playing/interacting with them during the morning service.
This area is usually supervised by 1 or more volunteers depending on numbers of babies/parents. Parents are encouraged to pass on any necessary medical or other information about babies before they leave.
2. MAIN CRECHE ROOM
This large room with its bright washable floor is designed for young children from approximately 1 ½ to 3 ½ years. The room is laid out in different activity areas, helping the children to engage in stimulating and purposeful play.
This area includes a mini-kitchen, and dining-area encouraging imaginative role-play. There are also baby dolls/prams available
FLOOR -PLAY AREA
The carpet is used here to stimulate floor-play with
a range of vehicles, train-sets and small figures for children who like to play with these.
Many enjoy the opportunity of pouring/filling with a selection of containers here, or using buckets, spades and moulds for wet-sand play when water is added. this also develops sharing/turn-taking.
At this area children are encouraged to complete a range of puzzles from inset trays to simple ones with small pieces. This encourages concentration and problem-solving.
We use a TUFF SPOT here to stop pieces from falling on the floor, and children are encouraged
to design and build with the blocks and figures available.
During the morning the children can choose to browse through books or have stories read to them if they wish. They take part in ‘tidy-up time’before a healthy snack, and then sit on the carpet for songs and a short Bible story. This routine helps them feel secure and gives a structure to their morning.
All crèche helpers are aware of our Child Protection and Health/Safety Policies and we adhere to these guidelines. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact the office or a member of the church.
